The recent 𝗧𝗪𝗳-𝗛𝗞 / 𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗛𝗞𝗔 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 to the 𝗬𝘂𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 & 𝗡𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 (𝗬𝗟𝗕𝗦) showcased how major infrastructure projects can deliver far more than flood protection. Upon completion, the scheme will enhance flood resilience in Yuen Long while creating new ecological and environmental value for the surrounding community.
Hosted by the 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝘅 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, participants gained valuable insights into the project's delivery, including the 𝗖-𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺, workforce welfare initiatives, and innovative digital construction practices. A site tour also provided a close-up view of the ongoing ELS cofferdam works.
Particularly impressive was the project's approach to balancing construction needs with environmental protection. The engineering and temporary works measures adopted to minimise impacts on the adjacent Nam Sang Wai wetlands demonstrate how infrastructure development and ecological conservation can go hand in hand.
